Montgomery - Alabama's State Capitol

As one of only a few state capitals designated a National Historic Landmark, today’s Alabama State Capitol upholds its distinguished place in American history. The Staybridge Suites Montgmery Eastchase hotel is located less than 20 minutes from the state capital and is located in a beautiful residential setting.

As the decades slipped by, the building would again become the site of controversy, this time as the end point of the landmark Selma-to-Montgomery Civil Rights March. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered one of his many moving speeches from the bottom of its steps at the end of that march. The historic Senate and House of Representatives Chambers and the Supreme Court Chambers have been restored to their Civil War and turn-of -the-century appearances. The Capitol Building allows for self-guided tours Monday thru Friday as well as pre-arranged guided tours for groups of fifteen or more. Saturdays are available for guided tours at 9am, 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Admission is Free. Closed on Sundays and state holidays.
