Alabama's Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail is the largest golf course construction project ever completed with a collection of 468 holes of championship golf on 11 different sites across Alabama! Three of these magnificent courses are located within a 1-hour drive of the Staybridge Suites Montgomery Eastchase hotel.

Dr. David Bronner, CEO of the Retirement Systems of Alabama had a brilliant - but really big idea in the late 1980's. His goal was to use golf to boost tourism, attract retirees, and spur economic growth within the state. His vision was on a grand scale -- he wanted to build 378 holes at eight sites throughout the state all at one time!

And it didn't stop there. After these eight sites were opened, two new sites were completed in 2005, and then Lakewood Golf Club in Point Clear became the Trail's latest addition, bringing the total to 11 Trail sites...26 courses...and 468 incredible holes! The tee locations are one of the most interesting aspects of the Trail. They are pegged to ability level, not age or gender. This allows golfers of all abilities to truly enjoy and be challenged by this most unique golfing experience. 

  • Capitol Hill Golf Course, Prattville (35 minutes from hotel) offers 3, 18-hole courses
  • Cambrian Ridge Golf Course, Greenville (1 hour from hotel) offers 27-championship holes and a 9-hole short course
  • Grand National Golf Course, Opelika (1 hour from hotel) offers 36- championship holes and an 18-hole short course
